Last week, the sixth grade children
magnetized a clip and proved that, sometimes, magnetism can be stronger than
gravity! Furthermore, we created a handmade compass with a cork and a
magnetized needle floating in water. Here you can see how we did it. It
is amusing to join theory and practice!

5th Grade - ST. PATRICK'S DAY
This Sunday,
March 17th, Irish people celebrate St Patrick's Day, the patron saint of
Ireland. It's widely celebrated around the world, especially in Ireland and the
US; in Chicago they even dye the river green! Typical food eaten in St
Patrick's Day is corned beef and cabbage.
One of the
traditions for St Patrick's day is to make wishes. Leprechauns are the fairies
who grant those wishes. The legend says that if you catch a Leprechaun in the
forest, it has to tell you where he hides the pot of gold so that you can make
a wish. If the Leprechaun escapes, so does your chance at having the treasure
at making a wish!
Happy St Patrick's Day!!

How do magnets work?
Hello everybody! Do you know that magnets attract and repel other
magnets depending on the charge of their poles? The sixth grade children
checked it through making different constructions with bar magnets and metal
balls. Moreover, we also proved if they attract objects that are in our daily
life such as pencils or sharpeners. Furthermore, we tested if magnets attract iron
filings and brass filings; and... What do you think? You have the answer in
these images! Furthermore, we did an electromagnetic experiment with a circuit
and a compass. It is fun to learn about matter through doing these kind of
experiments!
Setmana de Carnestoltes a sisè!
Màscares ben vistoses, disfresses de tot
allò imaginable i més, concursos, un taller de balls de saló molt animat, anar
a l’escola en pijama... A quina conclusió arribeu ajuntant-ho tot? A una
setmana molt i molt engrescada de Carnestoltes! Us podríem explicar molt més,
però preferim que veieu el que vam viure a sisè amb aquest recull d'imatges. Desitgem que vosaltres també gaudíssiu molt d'aquesta
celebració!
